Please Read Carefully Before Sending Us Camera Ready Art

Camera Ready means that your artwork is designed and completed in a professional graphics program and is 100% ready for production.

We do not consider work created in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Publisher, MS Works, MS Powerpoint and other other general office applications to be design quality and cannot successfully import this artwork for production. As a general rule, if you submit these files they will be considered to be a "general layout draft" and will be recreated in house and hourly art department charges may apply at a cost of up to $100 per hr.

Vinyl Cut Signs and Artwork:

We ask that you send us Vectorized Art  (AKA: Line Art) - this means that all images and designs are created in line art and can be scaled accordingly with no disruption in image quality. Plotters are unable to cut vinyl from scanned images because the cutting mechanism follows specific lines and paths from the original image, if you are only able to supply a scanned image, we will have to recreate your artwork in FlexiSign/Illustrator and you could be billed for this art department time.

PLEASE BE SURE THAT ALL OF YOUR COPY (FONTS) HAVE BEEN CONVERTED TO CURVES (OR LINES) BEFORE YOU SEND US VECTOR FILES.

This is very important and can save all parties considerable time and money. If we receive vector files with missing fonts and do not have a printout or digital image of your artwork to reference, we are not responsible for the change of artwork.

We accept vector files created in these formats/applications:

Transferring MAC files for use on PC:

We receive a fair amount of Adobe Illustrator files created on Macintosh computers. Since we are a Windows based graphics shop, there can be some time consuming issues of file compatibility. If you are exporting or saving from Adobe Illustrator please make sure that you check "For Windows" and save down to Version 7 if you have the most recent version. If you are in CorelDraw 9 or 10, please save down to Corel 8. For additional assistance, please feel free to call our shop or refer to your software instruction manuals.

Full Color & CMYK Digital Prints:

For all images and non vector based artwork, we suggest you submit Tiff files at (no lower than) 300 DPI and the correct size for your signs or graphics. Please be aware that if your image is not the correct size and of a low resolution, it can be rendered unusable if it does not enlarge properly. If you can only supply the standard Jpeg format, please keep your file at least 600 dpi and as large as possible to avoid any additional art charges needed to recreate or clean up your images. We cannot cut images from vinyl using graphic images such as Jpeg, Tiff or BMP, these would need a digital output then added to the existing signage.

Full Color images can be created in RGB (Red, Green, Blue) or CMYK (4 color process - Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) The CMYK color space is more commonly used in color printers, due to the subtractive properties of inks. This process requires additional CPU time to create and generally have a much larger file size - so some artist commonly create artwork in RGB. Please be aware that if your artwork needs to be converted to CMYK before printing, your colors may not match your original artwork, We are not responsible for this if a conversion is required. Also, always include a color print (or mockup) of the artwork you submit so that we may verify the image before printing.

We accept files created in these formats/applications:

Current In-house Software:

Our offices use Windows XP Professional based Intel machines. We have the ability to import Macintosh files from CDR's or from Iomega Zip disks if needed. Please call our offices for any additional information regarding Mac, Sun or Unix based files.

Sending Camera Ready Artwork to CCS Art Department:

You may e-mail your artwork to info@charmcitysigns.com or bring in a CD or Zip disk at any time. Please include a printout of your artwork, specific colors and fonts with any files that you submit. If you do not have the fonts, you may list the ones needed. When supplying artwork with text copy, please convert all fonts to curves. If only a list is supplied we cannot guarantee that we can find a perfect match but under most situations, should have it in stock.
